HISTORY OF THE SULTANATE

Azuristan was established on 9 June, 1989 as a micronation.

It's culture and history come from a mixture of Mongul, Arabic, and European stock. The people of Azuristan have a long history of being a nomadic and warrior people. In recent times, however, the Azurites have become a more peaceful people seeking to dwell in the world in a state of peace.

The peoples of Azuristan have always been a mixture of many varied faiths. At one time Christianity was the dominate religion but this gave way over time to Islam. During the Christian era, Azurites tended to be more esoteric Christians than fundamentalist Christians and the same can be said when Islam became the dominate faith.

Tribalism has always dominated the Azurite people and the Azur tribe is the predominate tribe of the micronation. Tribal law and tribal culture tends to be the law of the land. The people tend to cling to their traditional tribal ways. Most Azurites enjoy life the most outside of cities and towns finding the most joy being amid nature. Thus, it is not uncommon to find the people and their leaders dwelling in tents rather than splendid palaces. The Azurite general belief is:

"To much comfort breeds weakness."

Thus, the Azurites tend to be physical fit, lean, and muscular in form as the harsh desert land they live in has made them.
